קשה לבצע את הקלטת DC-ERG בשל זמן הרכישה הארוך (9 דקות) שבמהלכו כל הפרעה או הקדמה של רעש יכולים לסבך את הפרשנות של הנתונים. היתרון של שיטה חדשה זו הוא שהתוכנית הבסיסית מגיעה למצב יציב בתוך פרק זמן קצר יותר ומפחיתה את הסבירות שהחיה תתעורר בטרם עת מהרדמה ונוטה פחות להיווצרות בועות באלקטרודות של נימה.
