EE는 해마 신경 발생을 자극하지만 연령, 동물 균주, 특정 자극 조건 또는 신경 발생 검출 절차와 같은 많은 요인에서도 다양합니다. 7일 동안 EE 하우징에 노출된 중년 마우스에서, 해마 치상회(DG)에서 새로운 과립 세포(GC)의 탄생이 보고되었다16. 성체 쥐에서 성체 신경발생을 선택적으로 제거하려는 연구에서는 학습된 반응에 약 1 - 2주령의 새로운 과립 세포가 필요하다는 것을 시사했다17.
