マラリアは、5種類のマラリア原虫属に感染したヒトに引き起こされるベクター媒介性疾患である。最も一般的な種はP.熱帯熱化であり、最も罹患率と死亡率も1に及んでいます。マラリアの臨床プレゼンテーションは、無症候性または良性感染症から複雑/重度の疾患までさまざまであり、後者は主に5歳未満の小児で発生する。P.熱帯熱化は、無菌免疫を誘発しませんが、固有の地域に住む個人は、臨床疾患に対する免疫をゆっくりと発症します。保護は年齢/暴露依存であり、免疫は通常、人生の最初の5〜10年の間に取得される2.成人女性は、胎盤マラリア(PM)として知られている臨床プレゼンテーションで妊娠中に重度のマラリアが発生する可能性がありますので、重要な例外です。PMは、中絶、死産、早産、低出生体重、胎児死亡、および母性貧血の重要な原因である。PMに対する耐性は、連続妊娠3を超えて発達する。PMからの保護は、VAR2CSA型PfEMP144,55に対する抗体の取得に関連しており、コンドロイチン硫酸A(CSA)に結合する感染性赤血球(IE)表面抗原であり、胎盤内でのIE隔離を可能にする。抗体は、様々な機能活性を行う抗体媒介性保護(6,7),7に、食作用を誘導するIEのオプゾン化を含む。初期のin vitro研究は、抗体が貪食症88、99を介して単球の存在下でP.熱帯熱岩の成長を制限できることを示した。最近の研究では、より高いレベルの貪食誘導抗体が、より良い妊娠結果(HIV共感染の文脈において)10,11に関連していることを示しており10、11自然に獲得した免疫応答におけるこのエフェクター機能の関連性を示している。
