פרוטוקול זה מתאר שיטה לבחינת היררכיה חברתית במודל עכברוש. חולדות מבצעות משימת צלילה למזון מורכבת שבה הן יוצרות היררכיה ברורה בהתאם לנכונותן לצלול מתחת למים ולשחות כדי להשיג גלולת מזון. שיטה זו משמשת להבנת קבלת החלטות ויחסים חברתיים בין בעלי חיים חברתיים מאוד בקבוצות קטנות.
