Erratum: An Assessment Method and Toolkit to Evaluate Keyboard Design on Smartphones

L'input da tastiera è il metodo principale dell'interazione uomo-smartphone1,2e con la penetrazione degli smartphone, l'input da tastiera ottiene miliardi di utenti. I progetti e i concetti di tastiera variabile sono stati costantemente proposti da aziende e ricercatori di editor di metodi di input (IME) per ottimizzare l'esperienza e l'efficienza dell'input, comprese le tastiere modificate e riordinate con caratteri: Microsoft WordFlow Keyboard13,Functional Button Area in Glory of Kings14,IJQWERTY15e Quasi-QWERTY16.
I metodi di valutazione esistenti per la progettazione della tastiera variano da ricercatore a ricercatore, ad eccezione di diversi indicatori altamente accettati e vengono proposti indicatori più accurati. La ricerca sul design della tastiera è anche facile da condurre, utilizzare e analizzare. Se confrontata con altre ricerche sull'interazione uomo-computer, la ricerca del design della tastiera su smartphone portatili ha anche un alto valore applicativo per la sua vasta base di utenti senza attrezzature costose, materiali complicati o enorme spazio di laboratorio necessario. I questionari, le scale e lo script Python sulla ricerca sono open source e di facile accesso.
Lo scopo di questa ricerca è quello di riassumere i metodi precedenti per dimostrare un protocollo sistematico, preciso e generale per valutare e analizzare il design della tastiera sugli smartphone. L'esperimento esemplare e i risultati mirano a mostrare se la tastiera QWERTY curva con pulsanti regolabili in base alle dimensioni potrebbe ottimizzare l'esperienza di input di input con una sola mano su uno smartphone da 5 pollici rispetto alla tastiera QWERTY tradizionale e condividere il metodo di visualizzazione e lo script Python di analisi dei dati.

L'input da tastiera ha svolto un ruolo essenziale nell'interazione uomo-computer con una vasta base di utenti e il design della tastiera è sempre stato uno degli oggetti fondamentali degli studi sui dispositivi intelligenti. Con lo sviluppo della tecnologia dello schermo, gli smartphone potrebbero raccogliere dati e indicatori più precisi per valutare in modo approfondito il design della tastiera. L'allargamento dello schermo del telefono ha portato a un'esperienza di input insoddisfacente e dolore alle dita, specialmente per l'input con una sola mano. L'efficienza e il comfort degli input hanno attirato l'attenzione di ricercatori e designer, e la tastiera curva con pulsanti regolabili in dimensioni, che si accordava approssimativamente con la struttura fisiologica dei pollici, è stata proposta per ottimizzare l'utilizzo con una sola mano sugli smartphone a grande schermo. Tuttavia, i suoi effetti reali sono rimasti ambigui. Esiste sufficiente letteratura esistente sulla valutazione delle tastiere virtuali; tuttavia, solo alcuni di essi hanno sistematicamente riassunto e riflettuto sui metodi e sui processi di valutazione. Pertanto, questo protocollo colma la lacuna e presenta un processo e un metodo di valutazione sistematica del design della tastiera con codici disponibili per l'analisi e la visualizzazione. Non ha bisogno di attrezzature aggiuntive o costose ed è facile da condurre e utilizzare. Inoltre, il protocollo aiuta anche a ottenere potenziali ragioni per gli svantaggi del design e illumina l'ottimizzazione dei progetti. In conclusione, questo protocollo con le risorse open source potrebbe non solo essere un esperimento dimostrativo in classe per ispirare i principianti a iniziare i propri studi, ma contribuisce anche a migliorare l'esperienza dell'utente e le entrate delle società di editor di metodi di input.
