18 חולי שבץ גויסו למחקר זה שכלל הערכה של קוגניציה ויכולת הליכה וניתוח הליכה רב-משימתי. ניתוח הליכה רב-משימתית כלל מטלת הליכה אחת (מטלה 0), מטלה כפולה מוטורית פשוטה (אחיזת מים, מטלה 1), ומטלה כפולה מוטורית מורכבת (חציית מכשולים, מטלה 2). משימת חציית מכשולים נחשבה לשוות ערך לשילוב של מטלת הליכה פשוטה ומשימה מוטורית מורכבת מכיוון שהיא מערבת יותר מערכת עצבים, תנועת שלד ומשאבים קוגניטיביים. כדי למנוע הטרוגניות בתוצאות ניתוח ההליכה של חולי השבץ, חושבו ערכי עלות ההליכה הכפולה עבור פרמטרים קינמטיים שונים. ההבדלים העיקריים נצפו בזוויות המפרקים הפרוקסימליים, במיוחד בזוויות של תא המטען, האגן ומפרקי הירך, שהיו גדולים משמעותית במשימות המוטוריות הכפולות מאשר במטלת ההליכה היחידה. פרוטוקול מחקר זה נועד לספק בסיס לאבחון קליני של תפקוד הליכה ומחקר מעמיק של שליטה מוטורית בחולי שבץ עם ליקויים בשליטה מוטורית באמצעות ניתוח של משימות הליכה דו-מוטוריות.
