Escherichia coli (E. coli) עם כמוסה K1 הוא הפתוגן הגרם שלילי הנפוץ ביותר גורם דלקת קרום המוח חיידקי יילודים, המהווה כ 80% מכלל השכיחות1,2,3. למרות ההתקדמות בכימותרפיה מיקרוביאלית וטיפול תומך, דלקת קרום המוח חיידקית היא עדיין אחד התנאים ההרסניים ביותר עם תחלואה גבוההותמותה 4.
