1990年代に、Branemarkは骨移植の代替技術である頬骨インプラント(ZI)を導入しました。当初は、上顎構造に欠陥があった外傷被害者や腫瘍切除患者の治療に使用されていました。顎切除後、多くの患者は頬骨の体内または頬骨の前頭延長部にのみ固定を保持しました1,2,3。
最近では、ZI技術は、重度の吸収性上顎を有する無歯顎および歯状患者に広く使用されている。ZIインプラントの主な適応症は萎縮性上顎です。即時ローディングシステム(固定補綴)で4つのZIを使用することは、幅広い臨床経験を持つ外科医にとって実用的であり、骨移植技術の優れた代替方法であるように思われます2,4。ただし、ZIを配置する場合は、フリーハンドで、または手術用テンプレートを使用して指導するリスクがあります。リスクには、肺胞内の不正確な配置、眼窩腔または側頭下窩の侵入、および頬骨隆起内の不適切な配置が含まれます5。複数のZIを配置すると、この手術は危険で実行が困難になります。したがって、ZI配置の精度を向上させることは、その臨床使用と安全性にとって重要です。
