에지 검출과 같은 세분화 기술은 이미지 내에서 강도 차이를 활용하여 개별 세포를 분리하려고 합니다. 셀을 이미지의 나머지 부분과 구별하는 강도 변화는 대부분 밝기의 급격한 변화로 구성됩니다4. 에지 감지에는 정규화 필터링 단계와 강도 변화가 감지되는 차별화 단계가 포함됩니다. 분화 과정은 고강도 변화의 이미지 내에서 가장자리와 윤곽선을 식별하며, 이러한 가장자리와 윤곽선은 세포 존재와 상관 관계가 있습니다. 노이즈가 있는 이미지는 디노이징 알고리즘(denoising algorithm)4을 통해 실행될 수 있지만, 엣지 검출 기술은 배경 노이즈가 낮은 이미지를 분석하는 데 이상적으로 사용된다. 이 과정은 세포 경계가 명확하고 쉽게 구별 될 수 있고 세포 존재, 셀 블러, 외래 물체 또는 정의 된 내부 세포 구조 1,2와 관련이없는 밝기 윤곽선에 의해 방해받지 않을 때 최적으로 기능합니다. 이미지가 특히 시끄러운 경우, 세포는 형광 염색 또는 형광 단백질 2,5로의 형질감염을 통해 추가로 구별될 수 있다. 이것은 세분화 기술의 정확성을 크게 향상 시키지만 이미징을 위해 세포 배양을 준비하기 위해 추가 비용과 추가 시간 투자가 필요합니다.
