ミトコンドリアは、ほとんどすべての真核細胞に存在する必須の細胞小器官です。ミトコンドリアは、酸化的リン酸化を介してアデノシン三リン酸(ATP)を生成することによってエネルギー供給に関与し、生合成と代謝の代謝仲介者として機能します。ミトコンドリアは、ROSの生成、細胞死、細胞内Ca2+調節など、他の多くの重要な細胞プロセスに深く関与しています。ミトコンドリア機能障害は、パーキンソン病(PD)、アルツハイマー病(AD)、ハンチントン病(HD)、フリードライヒ運動失調症(FRDA)、筋萎縮性側索硬化症(ALS)など、さまざまな神経変性疾患と関連しています1。ミトコンドリア機能障害の増加とmtDNA異常も、人間の老化に寄与すると考えられています2,3。

flow cytometric analysis of multiple mitochondrial parameters in human induced pluripotent stem cells and their neural and glial derivatives
