Chlamydomonas reinhardtii는 섬모 (일명 편모), 광합성 및 광행동과 같은 연구 분야에서 모델 유기체로 간주되는 단세포 녹색 알가입니다. C. reinhardtii는 각각 광수신 및 수영에 사용되는 세포 당 하나의 눈반과 두 개의 섬모를 나타냅니다. 아이스팟에는 채널로돕신(ChRs), 원형질막의 라이트 게이티드 이온 채널, ChRs 바로 뒤에 위치한 카로티노이드가 풍부한 과립층의 두 가지 구성 요소가 있습니다. 아이스팟은 카로티노이드가 풍부한 과립층이 광 반사체(4,5)로서 기능하기 때문에 방향성 광 수용체로서 작용한다.
