TRAP 염색 결과는 대조군과 비교하여, 핵인자인 카파 B 리간드 및 대식세포 콜로니 자극인자의 수용체 활성화제로 유도된 세포에서 세포내 보라색 적색 과립의 수가 유의하게 증가하였다는 것을 보여주었다. 웨스턴 블롯 분석은 파골세포 특이적 단백질 TRAP 및 카텝신 K의 발현 수준이 대조군에 비해 처리된 세포에서 유의하게 증가하였다는 것을 입증하였다.이 절차에서 가장 중요한 것은 일차 배양 후 24 내지 48 시간에 이차 부착성 세포를 수집하는 시간이며, 골수 단핵구-대식세포 세포가 완전히 부착되기 시작한다. 골수 단핵구-대식세포는 시험관내에서 파골세포로 유도될 수 있으며, 골다공증 연구를 위한 안정한 세포 모델을 제공한다.
