인공와우(CI)는 고심도 감각신경성 난청 환자를 치료하는 가장 효과적인 방법입니다. CI는 전 세계적으로 사용되지만 CI를 사용한 환자 또는 동물 모델에서 전기 생리학 및 조직 병리학을 조사하거나 전극 어레이의 새로운 모델을 평가하기위한 표준 모델은 없습니다. 인간과 유사한 달팽이관 특성을 가진 대형 동물 모델은 인간에게 사용하기 전에 고급 및 수정 된 어레이에 대한 연구 및 평가 플랫폼을 제공 할 수 있습니다. 
이를 위해 우리는 내이 해부학이 인간과 매우 유사한 Bama 미니 돼지로 표준 CI 방법을 확립했습니다. 인간용으로 설계된 어레이를 둥근 창 막을 통해 미니 돼지 달팽이관에 이식하고 인간 CI 수혜자에게 사용되는 것과 유사한 외과적 접근 방식을 따랐습니다. 어레이 삽입에 이어 청각 신경의 기능을 평가하기 위해 유발 복합 활동 전위 (ECAP) 측정이 이어졌습니다. 이 연구는 동물의 준비, 수술 단계, 배열 삽입 및 수술 중 전기 생리 학적 측정을 설명합니다. 
결과는 인간에게 사용 된 동일한 CI가 표준화 된 외과 적 접근법을 통해 미니 돼지에 쉽게 이식 될 수 있고 인간 CI 수혜자에서 측정 된 것과 유사한 전기 생리 학적 결과를 산출 할 수 있음을 나타냅니다. 미니 돼지는 인간에게 적용하기 전에 새로운 전극 어레이 및 수술 접근법의 안전성과 잠재적 성능에 대한 초기 증거를 제공하는 귀중한 동물 모델이 될 수 있습니다.
