这些挑战促使我们小组探索电化学驱动氢化反应的替代方法5，6，7。这种搜索导致使用了Pd膜，该膜通常用于氢气分离8。我们将其用作电化学反应器侧水电解的电极。钯膜的这种新应用能够将电化学水氧化位点与化学氢化位点物理分离。由此产生的反应器配置有两个隔间：1）用于制氢的电化学隔间;2）用于氢化的化学隔室（图1）。通过在Pt阳极和Pd膜（也用作阴极）上施加电势，在电化学室中产生质子。然后这些质子迁移到Pd膜，在那里它们被还原成表面吸附的氢原子。电化学室可以细分为包括可选的阳离子交换膜以促进这种质子迁移。表面吸附的氢原子通过Pd fcc晶格9的间隙八面体位点渗透，并在加氢室中膜的另一面出现，在那里它们与给定原料的不饱和键反应形成氢化产物7，10，11，12，13，14，15，16.因此，膜反应器中的Pd充当（i）氢选择性膜，（ii）阴极和（iii）加氢催化剂。

膜反应器通过将Pd膜夹在电化学H-cell12的阳极和阴极室之间来组装。耐化学腐蚀的O形圈用于将膜固定到位并确保无泄漏密封。膜反应器的电化学室含有富氢水溶液。在这项研究中，我们使用 1 M H 2 SO4 和一个阳极，该阳极由包裹在 5 cm2铂网中的铂丝组成。阳极通过电化学室顶部的孔浸没在电解质溶液中。化学加氢室包含溶剂和加氢原料7，10，11，12，16，17。H细胞隔室顶部的孔用于采样。此处显示的实验使用0.01M苯丙酮乙醇溶液作为加氢进料。然而，起始材料（和浓度）可以改变以适应实验需求。例如，含有长烃链和炔基官能团的起始材料可以溶解在戊烷中以提高溶解度11。反应的施加电流可以在5 mA/cm 2和300 mA/cm2之间。所有反应均在环境温度和压力下进行。
大气质谱（atm-MS）用于测量渗透到加氢室11，12的电化学室中的氢百分比。这种测量对于了解膜反应器所需的能量输入非常重要，因为它揭示了最大可能的氢气利用率（即，产生的氢气中有多少实际上可用于氢化反应）。通过测量从电化学室和氢化室11，12逸出的H2的量来计算通过Pd膜的氢渗透。100%的渗透值意味着电化学室中产生的所有氢气通过Pd膜输送到加氢室，然后结合形成氢气。<100%的渗透值意味着在渗透通过膜之前，在电化学室中发生析氢。当H2从电化学室或氢化室产生时，它进入仪器并被电离为H2+。四极杆选择m / z = +2的碎片，并由探测器测量相应的电荷。通过该技术获得的图是离子电荷随时间的变化。首先测量加氢室的离子电荷，当信号稳定时，改变通道以测量电化学室。氢渗透的计算方法是将加氢室中的平均离子电荷除以反应器中测量的总离子电荷（公式1）11，12。为了计算氢气渗透，使用atm-MS分别测量来自氢化和电化学室的H2。

我们的协议描述了一种在单个反应器中将电化学制氢与化学原料加氢分离的方法。我们可以表征所需氢化反应中使用的氢气量。电化学与氢化化学是分开的。它减少了副反应的机会，并允许使用更多的溶剂和浓度，而不是仅限于使用电解质。首先，使用蘸有己烷的棉布清洁钯晶圆棒，然后用手动滚筒滚动，直到数字仪表读数约为 150 微米。然后使用自动滚筒将厚度减少到 25 微米，并将其切成所需尺寸的碎片。退火时，将轧制的钯箔装入氮气气氛下的马弗炉中。以每小时 850 摄氏度的速度将它们在 850 至 900 摄氏度下加热 1.5 小时，以 60 摄氏度的速度逐渐升高温度。通过混合10毫升硝酸，20毫升30%过氧化氢和10毫升去离子水来制备清洁溶液。将退火的钯箔浸入清洁溶液中 20 到 30 分钟，直到剧烈的冒泡消退或溶液变黄。用去离子水清洗钯箔两次后，用异丙醇冲洗并风干。然后使用准备好的钯箔组装反应器。制备电镀液时，将氯化钯溶解成一摩尔盐酸。用24毫升制备的溶液填充反应器的电化学室，使加氢室空。将铂网状阳极和氯化银参比电极放入电化学室中。将电极连接到恒电位仪，并在钯箔和氯化银上施加 0.2 伏的电位，直到 15C 电荷通过。拆卸反应器后，用去离子水冲洗所得钯膜两次，用异丙醇冲洗一次。用空气或氮气干燥后，检查膜表面是否有可见的黑色钯沉积。为了组装反应器，将准备好的钯膜夹在电化学H电池的两半之间。在电池左侧和钯膜之间放置一个耐化学腐蚀的垫圈。在电池右侧放置额外的垫圈后，使用夹子密封反应器配置。对于电化学氢化，用24毫升一摩尔硫酸填充电化学隔室。将铂对电极插入电化学室，并将其连接到电源的正极。使用铜带将钯膜连接到负极端子上。然后在电池上施加 250 毫安的恒电流和 3 至 5 个电压，持续 15 分钟。取样30微升反应溶液后，在化学室中加入24毫升以保持恒电流。用微量移液器每15分钟收集一次样品。将一毫升二氯甲烷溶解在GC-MS小瓶中并储存直至反应完成。要分析样品，请将它们装入自动进样器托盘中。然后单击MassHunter图标以启动GC-MS软件。选择序列，然后编辑序列以打开序列编辑窗口。将样品名称、样品瓶位置、方法路径、方法文件、数据路径和数据文件填写到图表中。将样品类型设置为样品，将稀释度设置为 1。单击方法，然后单击编辑整个方法以调整方法。检查方法信息和仪器采集，然后按OK。此外，验证是否检查了数据采集和数据分析。将其他所有字段留空，然后单击“确定”。将样品入口设置为 GC，将进样源设置为 GC ALS。确保选中“使用 MS”框，将入口位置设置为正面，将 MS 连接到前面，然后单击“确定”。在入口卡舌下，将加热器温度设置为 250 摄氏度，压力设置为每平方英寸 7.2 磅，氦气流量设置为每分钟 23.1 毫升。在烤箱选项卡下，将初始温度设置为 50 摄氏度，并保持一分钟。将斜坡速率设置为每分钟 25 摄氏度。温度降至 200 摄氏度，保持零分钟，然后按 OK。检查是否未选择所有显示信号，然后单击确定。将溶剂延迟设置为 2.50 分钟，然后选择确定。确保监视器包括 GC 烘箱温度、GC 入口 F 温度、GC 入口 F 压力、GC 色谱柱 2 流量计算、MS EM 伏特、MS MS 源、MS MS 四边形，然后单击确定。输入所需的方法名称以保存方法。单击序列，然后单击运行序列，然后选择运行序列以开始样本分析。序列完成后，打开 MassHunter 软件并选择文件名以查看数据。要鉴定产物峰，请单击谱图，然后单击文库搜索报告，然后单击确定，将采集的质谱图与NIST数据库进行比较。使用公式计算起始材料和产品的相对组成。大气质谱法测量了膜反应器中的加氢室和电化学室中产生的氢气。钯膜渗透73%的氢气，加氢室中的平均离子电流为27皮安，电化学室中的平均离子电流为10皮安。相比之下，另一层膜对氢的渗透率低于1%。在电化学偏压作用下加氢的GC-MS显示，随着反应的进行，原料苯丙酮峰尖锐，形成代表丙苯和1-苯基-1-丙醇的峰，而苯丙酮峰减小。相反，当钯膜没有电化学偏置时，苯丙酮不会转化为产物。然而，色谱图显示了一个由杂质引起的意外峰。在电化学偏置钯膜下，加氢反应的动力学曲线证明了起始材料和产物的组成变化。相反，当钯膜没有电化学偏置时，起始材料组成不会改变，因为产物没有形成。组装反应器以防止隔间之间泄漏非常重要。使用微量移液器等精密仪器对反应进行采样，以确保GC-MS的数据质量。可以执行H NMR等其他表征方法以确认反应产物的化学结构。
