Även om de vanligtvis är mycket ledande för biologiska processer, komplicerar deras inneboende biologiska aktivitet studien av påverkan av enskilda parametrar. Här kan vi selektivt lägga till våra spelare av intresse och bedöma hur systemet förändras.
Den sekventiella sådden av celler på våra syntetiska hydrogeler med blank skiffer möjliggör bildandet av mycket definierade nischer. Här koloniserar hBMMS hydrogelerna och deponerar deras inneboende extracellulära matris. Detta ger substratet för de därefter sådda endotelcellerna.
Denna funktion är inte vanligt förekommande i andra 3D in vitro-modeller. Möjligheten att lägga till olika celltyper sekventiellt möjliggör skapandet av in vitro-modeller med hög genomströmning med stor komplexitet. Dessa modeller kan anpassas för att generera mer specifika osteogena vaskulariserade nischer och för att undersöka funktionerna hos cellulära och molekylära aktörer.
