Retinalen Ganglienzellen (RGC) Zählen ist notwendig, um die Degeneration der Netzhaut vor allem bei Glaukom zu bewerten. Zuverlässige RGC Kennzeichnung ist von grundlegender Bedeutung für die Beurteilung der Auswirkungen der Behandlung. Bei Ratten beträgt ca. 98% der RGCs bekannt, zur kontralateralen Colliculus superior (SC) (Forrester und Peters, 1967) Projekt. Anwenden von Fluor-Gold (FG) auf der Oberfläche der SC-Label fast alle RGCs, so dass wir auf diesem am stärksten gefährdeten retinalen Neurons in Glaukom konzentrieren können. FG wird durch das Axon-Terminals von retinalen Ganglienzellen genommen und bilateral retrograd seiner SOMAS in der Netzhaut transportiert. Vergleichen mit retrograde Markierung von RGC indem FG am Stumpf des durchtrennten Sehnerven für 2 Tage, ist die Einmischung der RGC Überleben minimiert. Vergleichen mit Kresylviolett-Färbung, die Flecken RGCs, Amakrinzellen und Endothel der Blutgefäße in der Netzhaut Ganglienzellen, diese Kennzeichnung Methode genauer auf die RGC ist. Dieses Video beschreibt die Methode der retrograden Markierung von RGC indem FG auf der Oberfläche des SC. Das chirurgische Verfahren umfassen das Bohren der Schädel; Absaugen der Rinde in den SC aussetzen und die Anwendung Gelatineschwamm über den gesamten dorsalen Oberfläche des SC gezeigt. Nützliche Tipps zur Vermeidung von massiven Hirnblutungen und Streben des SC gegeben worden.
