Marion Frey is currently doing her PhD Thesis on „Delignified and Densified Wood – A Versatile Concept for New High-Performance Wood-Based Materials“ at the Institute for Building Materials/Wood Materials Science at ETH Zürich.
In 2015, Marion finished her Masters in Materials Science at ETH Zürich with the thesis on „Interfacial Modification of Glass Fiber Composites“. Before starting her PhD in 2017, she was working for the company Brugg Cables as development engineer, developing high-strength steel and carbon fiber reinforced flat cables for elevator applications. Her current research interest is the development of novel high-performance wood based materials derived from structure-retaining delignification and variants thereof, which she consideres as potential sustainable alternative for glass fiber composites.
