Pouya Amrollahi is a Graduate Research Associate in the Virginia G. Piper Center for Personalized Diagnostics of Biodesign Institute at Arizona State University in Tempe, Arizona. He studied Materials Science and Engineering at University of Tehran (Tehran, Iran) and graduated with a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in 2012. His B.Sc. research was on the mechano-thermal fabrication of Cu-based magnetic nanoparticles with specific application in hyperthermia (a cancer treatment procedure). After moving to the United States as a Research Scholar, Pouya got his Master of Science in Materials Science and Engineering from Oklahoma State University (Tulsa, Oklahoma) in 2014, working on fabricating energy harvesting devices (such as thermoelectric materials) and studying functional biomaterials for tissue engineering. Then, he worked in the industry for two years to expand his knowledge of materials, with a focus on novel smart materials. Currently, Pouya is pursuing his PhD degree at Arizona State university. His current research is focused on building platforms for early diagnosis of cancer and infectious disease based on the markers expressed on the surface of extracellular vesicles of patients.
