Conor Keogh is an academic surgical trainee interested in the application of engineering techniques to the diagnosis and management of nervous system pathology. He completed degrees in medicine (MB BCh BAO) and neural engineering (MSc) in Trinity College Dublin before working in academic-clinical posts in Ireland, during which he became a Member of the Royal College of Surgeons (MRCS).
During his clinical training, Conor's work was primarily focused on using statistical signal processing methods to better analyse neural signals for disease diagnosis and outcome prediction, and on the development of patient-specific treatment protocols based on electrophysiological measurements. This work has been recognised by a number of national and international awards.
Conor is now carrying out a PhD with Oxford Functional Neurosurgery's Neural Interfacing Group, focusing on the application of physical science methods to improve current electrical stimulation paradigms. He has been awarded multiple scholarships and awards to support this work.
