Fernanda holds a Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy and Master degree in Pharmacology from the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC), Brazil and PhD in Biochemistry from University of Campinas (UNICAMP), Brazil. Fernanda has experience in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry and Pharmacology. Fernanda's PhD was developed at Brazilian Biosciences National Laboratory (LNBio - CNPEM) working with the characterization of human proteins Nek4 and Nek11, its expression profile and its interaction partners. During her PhD, under Dr. Jörg Kobarg supervision, Fernanda has found Nek4 as a frequent interactor of splicing related proteins and found Nek4 regulating alternative splicing of E1A mingene. Fernanda was a Post-doctoral fellow at Dr. Antonio Zorzano's laboratory at IRB-Barcelona, Spain, where worked with Nek4 mitochondrial role. Currently she is performing Post doctorate at UNICAMP, studying the role of Nek4 on the mitochondria- nucleus signaling after cellular stress and Nek4 role in alternative splicing regulation.
