Bing Sun is an Associate Research Fellow at the Research center for pharmacology and toxicology, Institute of Medicinal Plant Development (IMPLAD), Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences & Peking Union Medical College, Beijing, China. He received his undergraduate with honors degree from Harbin Medical College, and a Ph.D. from the Institute of Basic Medical Sciences, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences & Peking Union Medical College.
During Dr. Sun’s Ph.D. training at Institute of Basic Medical Sciences, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences & Peking Union Medical College (2007 to 2010), he developed a keen focus on research that encompasses regulation of Toll like receptors (TLRs) signaling in Sertoli cells in testicular innate immune response. By the well-established TAM (Tyro3, Axl and Mer) triple mutant mice, he found that Growth arrest specific gene 6, one of the TAM receptors, negatively regulated TLR3 signaling in Sertoli cells, which may participate in controlling the testicular innate responses to pathogens. Dr. Sun received a Hong Kong scholar award, and he worked as post-doctoral fellow (2015) at School of Biomedical Sciences, the Chinese University of Hong Kong. He studied the regulation of vascular function in cardiovascular diseases and metabolic disorders.
Dr. Bing’s research is supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the Beijing Municipal Natural Science Foundation, and the Ph.D. Programs Foundation of Ministry of Education of China. Currently his main work is to study the effect of stress on cardiovascular dysfunction and metabolic disorders. Also, his group is trying to find the missing link between obesity and cardiovascular diseases.
