Bhavya is a Research Officer at A*STAR, Skin Research Institute of Singapore. She graduated from National University of Singapore with Bachelors in Science(Life Science) in 2017. As a fresh graduate, Bhavya kickstarted her Research career at Colin Stewart's Lab at A*STAR, Institute of Medical Biology. She did various molecular work such as DNA extraction, cloning, and cell transfection and transduction.
After a year, Bhavya discovered her keen interest in translational research as she was determined to do research that would be clinically relevant. She then moved to Zee Upton David Leavesley Lab at A*STAR, Skin Research Institute of Singapore. As part of the Wound Care Innovation for the Tropics, she learnt how to set up an organotypic 3D-skin model that mimics the human skin in vitro. Her focus was to assess treatments that were applied onto wounds, and determine if it accelerates or inhibits wound healing by histological analysis. Moving forward, Bhavya's focus would be to improve on the current 3D skin model by incorporating other elements to it.
