Parnian Bigdelou is a graduate student in the Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering Department, Ohio University in Athens, Ohio. She received her undergraduate degree (B.Sc.) from Sharif University of Technology, and her M.Sc. degree from Cleveland State University in Cleveland, Ohio.
She is currently focused on studying the role of cell membrane lipid composition in nanoparticle-membrane interactions. This work has implications in both environmental nanotechnology (e.g. in cases of unwanted exposure to nanomaterials) and in nanoparticle-mediated drug delivery where injection of nanomaterials in the blood might be required. In addition, it could have implications in cheap and rapid diagnostics of hematological diseases in which the composition of the cell membrane might be altered.
