Department of Orthopaedic Surgery
Dr. Chuanju Liu held a dual appointment as an Assistant Professor from Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and Department of Cell Biology at NYU School of Medicine since 2002, and was promoted to Associate Professor with Tenure and Professor with Tenure in 2007 and 2013, respectively. He is the current Editor-in-Chief of Clinical Medicine Insights: Arthritis and Musculoskeletal Disorders and Rheumatology Research and Review, and serves on a number of Editorial Boards. He is also an active participant in peer review of grant applications to various agencies (NIH, DOD, VA, etc.). His current research focuses on inflammatory and degenerative arthritis, cartilage/bone regeneration, and autoimmune diseases. He has published over 140 papers in prestigious journals, including Science, ARD, EMBO J, and PNAS. He is the recipient of numerous awards, including the ASBMR's Harold M. Frost Award, the Arthritis Foundation's Dorothy W. Goldstein Award, the NIH Career Development Award, the Kappa Delta Award from the ORS and AAOS, the Innovative Research Award from the American College of Rheumatology, and the STAR Award from NIH/NIAMS.
