Jianxun Qi is a professor in CAS Key Laboratory of Pathogenic Microbiology and Immunology, Institute of Microbiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences. He received his Ph.D. from Institute of Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2008. He is interested in protein-protein interaction systems that play central roles in immunology and virology. Molecular insight into recognition and activation of receptors implicated in human disease could inform current strategies or even reveal new strategies for therapeutic intervention using protein engineering. He is especially interested in screening and designing high-affinity small molecules and monoclonal antibodies against the virus like SARS-CoV-2 that cause COVID-19, enabling further drug development.
