Tong Cheng is an associate professor at William Rainey Harper College (Palatine, IL) Biology Department. She teaches Microbiology, Fundamentals of Cellular biology and Human Diseases to bio-major and non-major students.

Dr. Cheng received her undergraduate degree in Biochemistry from Wuhan University in China and Ph. D degree from University of Illinois at Chicago, Genetics Department. Her graduate project was to study the structure and function of Peripherin/rds gene in human retinitis pigmentosa. She received postdoc training from Northwestern University (1998-2000) and joined University of Rochester, Neurosurgery Department as a research assistant professor (2000 to 2006). Her research project was to study the mechanism of Activated protein C in treatment of human ischemic stroke. Before joining Harper College, she had taught Microbiology at Genesee Community College (2006-2009) in NY.
