Francois Rwandamuriye is a PhD student in the Sarcoma Translational Research Group at Telethon Kids Institute (TKI) under supervision of Dr. Joost Lesterhuis. Francois completed a Master of Infectious Diseases at the University of Western Australia in 2014. After graduation, Francois joined the drug hypersensitivity research group at the Institute for Immunology and Infectious Diseases (IIID), Murdoch University, as a research assistant under Prof. Elizabeth Phillips.
Francois’ PhD research focuses on identifying new treatment options for soft tissue sarcoma with the main aim of tackling one of the key problems in the treatment of soft tissue sarcoma: local cancer relapse after surgery. Together with his colleagues, he developed a mouse model of partial surgical resection which allows testing new therapies in the context of surgery and its associated wound healing response.
