De<em&gt; Drosophila</em&gt; Neuromusculaire junctie (NMJ) is een gevestigd model dat wordt gebruikt voor de studie van synaptische plasticiteit en ontwikkeling. Het wijdverbreide gebruik van de<em&gt; Drosophila</em&gt; Motor systeem is te wijten aan de hoge toegankelijkheid. Het kan worden geanalyseerd met single-cell resolutie. Er zijn 30 spieren per hemisegment wiens afspraak binnen de perifere lichaam muur zijn bekend. Een totaal van 31 motorneuronen hechten aan deze spieren in een patroon dat high fidelity heeft. Met behulp van moleculaire biologie en genetica, kan men maken van transgene dieren of mutanten. Dan kan men de studie van de ontwikkeling gevolgen voor de morfologie en functie van de NMJ. Immunohistochemie kan worden gebruikt om duidelijk het imago van de componenten van de NMJ.
