Volwassen stamcellen zijn al lang besproken met betrekking tot de toepassing ervan in regeneratieve geneeskunde. Volwassen stamcellen hebben geleid tot een veel opwinding voor de behandeling van gewonde en zieke weefsels als gevolg van hun indrukwekkende mogelijkheden om multi-lijn celdifferentiatie en hun zelf-vernieuwing kunnen ondergaan. Het belangrijkste is, hebben deze eigenschappen hen voordelig voor gebruik in de autologe stamceltransplantatie therapieën. Het huidige protocol zal introduceren de lezers op de gewijzigde preplate techniek waarbij zachte weefsels van het bewegingsapparaat, zoals pees-en spier, zijn een<sup&gt; St</sup&gt; Enzymatisch los en vervolgens geplaatst in collageen gecoat kolven met medium. De bovenstaande vloeistof, die is samengesteld uit medium en de resterende drijvende cellen, is serieel overgedragen dagelijks naar nieuwe flessen. De stamcellen zijn de langzaamste zich te houden aan de kolven die meestal duurt 5-7 dagen (serieel transfers of preplates). Door gebruik te maken van deze techniek, volwassen stamcellen aanwezig in deze weefsels kunnen gemakkelijk worden geoogst door middel van vrij niet-invasieve procedures.
