Questo lavoro è un progetto di ingegneria / biologia sintetica metabolica in cui le cellule vegetali sono progettati per esprimere una proteina reporter in diversi organelli ma solo con un singolo costrutto di DNA. Un approccio per proteine ​​bersaglio a più di una posizione comporta clonazione più copie genetiche, ciascuna contenente un diverso peptide localizzazione. Ogni copia deve essere introdotto da successive ritrasformazione, o, in alternativa, da backcrossing singole trasformazioni 1.
