Het protocol hier gepresenteerde toepassing hydrochinon, een aromatische molecule gekenmerkt door een zwakke reductiepotentieel om goud nanorods te produceren. Er zijn twee belangrijke voordelen van de onderhavige protocol naar de meest gebruikte syntheseroute gebaseerd op het gebruik van ascorbinezuur: de eerste is dat hydrochinon kan bijna kwantitatief verminderen goudionen waardoor de productie van grotere hoeveelheid goud nanorods 11. Gouden nanodeeltjes (AuNPs) zijn een van de meest voorkomende en veelbelovende nanostructuren voor gebruik in biomedische toepassingen. Het gebruik daarvan in vele point-of-care in vitro diagnostica 1 Zij werden voorgesteld als een effectief hulpmiddel voor een aantal andere verschillende toepassingen. Als contrastmiddel in imaging studies, 2 als geneesmiddelafgiftesysteem 3 en als geneesmiddelen voor licht geïnduceerde thermotherapie (of fotothermische therapie). 4 het grote potentieel van AuNPs heeft gedreven, in de afgelopen twintig jaar intensief onderzoek naar de ontwikkeling van nieuwe synthese die in staat is de controle op de vergroten en vorm verkregen. 5 dit komt omdat verschillende AuNPs in feite meer geschikt dan anderen voor specifieke toepassingen. Van de verschillende goud nanostructuren, goud nanorods (AuNRs) hebben zich ontwikkeld tot een van de meest interessante systemen. AuNRs worden gekenmerkt door twee plasmonic horen bij de oscillatie van elektronen langs de longitudinale en transversale assen resp. 6 Het is bijzonder belangrijk dat de positie van de meest intense longitudinale piek kan volledig aangepast worden tussen 620 en 800 nm, afhankelijk van de verhouding van de stangen . Dit gebied komt overeen met de biologische venster 7 waarbij de menselijke weefsels vrijwel geen licht absorberen, waardoor de ontwikkeling van een aantal in vivo fotonische toepassingen waarbij AuNPs. Ondanks een grote belangstelling voor dit soort nanostructuren, synthetische protocollen voor de bereiding van AuNRs lijden aan verscheidene beperkingen. In de meeste gevallen worden nanorods bereid volgens een tweestaps werkwijze ontwikkeld door Sau en medewerkers. 8 in het protocol worden nanorods gesynthetiseerd door reductie goudionen behulp ascorbinezuur in aanwezigheid van voorgevormde goud zaden, zilverionen en een grote hoeveelheid van hexadecyl trimethylammonium bromide (CTAB), acationic lineaire oppervlakteactieve stof. Het nadeel van dit protocol is dat de vermindering opbrengst van goudionen relatief laag (ongeveer 20%) 9 en die een grote hoeveelheid CTAB, een duur reagens die meer goed dan de helft van de totale kosten van de reagentia in de synthese, is nodig. De ontwikkeling van een nieuwe en efficiëntere synthetische route daaruit als een belangrijke nodig, waardoor de verspreiding van biomedische benaderingen op basis van AuNRs. In het eerste deel van het onderhavige document presenteren we een geoptimaliseerd protocol voor de bereiding van AuNR met een aspectverhouding van ongeveer drie. De synthese is gebaseerd op het gebruik van hydrochinon als een mild reductiemiddel en maakt de bereiding van AuNR met een bijna kwantitatieve reductie van goud ionen, met gebruikmaking van een verminderde hoeveelheid CTAB. 10 Dit protocol voor de bereiding van de AuNRs berust op een aanpak in twee fasen waar goud zaden worden gebruikt in een &quot;groei solution &quot;. In het tweede deel, laten we zien hoe fijn afstemmen van de omvang en de hoogte-breedteverhouding van de verkregen AuNR op twee manieren. De eerste manier, vergelijkbaar met het standaard protocol gebaseerd op ascorbinezuur, is de hoeveelheid zilver ionen in de &quot;groei oplossing&quot; variëren. De tweede manier is gebaseerd op de variatie van de hoeveelheid CTAB die tot een concentratie van 10 mM (nabij de kritische micellaire concentratie door de leverancier gerapporteerd) welomschreven korte nanorods verkrijgen kan worden verminderd.

hydroquinone based synthesis of gold nanorods

Gold nanorods are an important kind of nanoparticles characterized by peculiar plasmonic properties. Despite their widespread use in nanotechnology, the synthetic methods for the preparation of gold nanorods are still not fully optimized. In this paper we describe a new, highly efficient, two-step protocol based on the use of hydroquinone as a mild reducing agent. Our approach allows the preparation of nanorods with a good control of size and aspect ratio (AR) simply by varying the amount of hexadecyl trimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) and silver ions (Ag+) present in the "growth solution". By using this method, it is possible to markedly reduce the amount of CTAB, an expensive and cytotoxic reagent, necessary to obtain the elongated shape. Gold nanorods with an aspect ratio of about 3 can be obtained in the presence of just 50 mM of CTAB (versus 100 mM used in the standard protocol based on the use of ascorbic acid), while shorter gold nanorods are obtained using a concentration as low as 10 mM.
