受動的な触覚は、皮膚から来る刺激情報を受動的かつ静的に知覚する能力である。例えば、空間情報を感知する能力は、手の皮膚の中で最も強いです。この能力は、触覚空間視力と呼び、触覚閾値または差別閾値によって測定される。現在、2点閾値は触覚空間視力の尺度として広く使用されているが、多くの研究では2点の差別に重大な赤字が存在することが示されている。そこで、コンピュータ制御の触覚刺激システムが開発され、触覚半自動受動指角刺激装置(TSPAS)を、触覚空間視力の新たな尺度として触覚角度判別閾値を用いた。TSPASは、移動速度、距離、および接触時間を制御しながら、被写体のパッシブフィンガーパッドに上げられた角度の刺激を適用するシンプルで簡単に操作できるシステムです。TSPASの成分は、触覚角度判別閾値を計算する手順と同様に詳細に説明されています。
