Central to the ABCE model of flower development is the antagonistic interaction between class A and class C genes. The molecular mechanisms underlying the A-C antagonism are not completely understood. In Arabidopsis thaliana, miR172 is expressed in the inner floral whorls where it downregulates the class A gene APETALA 2 (AP2). However, what controls this predominantly inner whorl-specific expression of miR172 is not known. We show that the LEUNIG (LUG) and SEUSS (SEU) co-repressors repress miR172 expression in the outer whorls of A. thaliana flowers. The recruitment of LUG/SEU to the miR172 promoters is dependent on AP2, suggesting that AP2 represses the expression of its cognate microRNA. Our study provides new insights into the molecular mechanisms underlying the A-C antagonism and shed light on the transcriptional regulation of miR172 during flower development.

Centrale au mod&#xE8;le ABCE du d&#xE9;veloppement des fleurs est l&#x26;#39;interaction antagoniste entre la classe A et les g&#xE8;nes de classe C. Les m&#xE9;canismes mol&#xE9;culaires qui sous-tendent l&#x26;#39;antagonisme AC ne sont pas compl&#xE8;tement compris. Chez Arabidopsis thaliana, miR172 est exprim&#xE9;e dans les verticilles floraux int&#xE9;rieurs o&#xF9; il r&#xE9;gule &#xE0; la baisse de la classe A apetala g&#xE8;ne 2 (AP2). Toutefois, ce contr&#xF4;le cette pr&#xE9;dominance int&#xE9;rieure verticille-expression sp&#xE9;cifique de miR172 n&#x26;#39;est pas connue. Nous montrons que la LEUNIG (LUG) et Seuss (SEU) co-r&#xE9;presseurs de r&#xE9;primer l&#x26;#39;expression miR172 dans les verticilles ext&#xE9;rieurs de fleurs chez A. thaliana. Le recrutement du LUG / SEU aux miR172 promoteurs d&#xE9;pend AP2, ce qui sugg&#xE8;re que AP2 r&#xE9;prime l&#x26;#39;expression de son microARN apparent&#xE9;. Notre &#xE9;tude apporte un nouvel &#xE9;clairage sur les m&#xE9;canismes mol&#xE9;culaires qui sous-tendent l&#x26;#39;antagonisme AC et faire la lumi&#xE8;re sur la r&#xE9;gulation transcriptionnelle de miR172 pendant la floraison.

Dem ABCE-Modell der Blume-Entwicklung im Mittelpunkt steht die antagonistische Wechselwirkung zwischen der Klasse A und Klasse-C-Gene. Die molekularen Mechanismen des A-C-Antagonismus werden nicht v&ouml;llig verstanden. In Arabidopsis Thaliana, miR172 dr&uuml;ckt sich in die inneren floralen Quirlen wo es Downregulates der Klasse-A-Gen APETALA 2 (AP2). Jedoch ist was steuert diese &uuml;berwiegend innere Quirl-spezifischen Ausdruck der miR172 nicht bekannt. Wir zeigen, dass die LEUNIG (LUG) und SEUSS (SEU) Co-repressors miR172 Ausdruck in den &auml;u&szlig;eren Quirlen von A. Thaliana Blumen zu unterdr&uuml;cken. Die Rekrutierung von LUG/SEU an die Projekttr&auml;ger miR172 h&auml;ngt AP2, darauf hindeutet, dass AP2 Ausdruck seiner Verwandten MicroRNA unterdr&uuml;ckt.
