Ivan Zipancic is an Associate Professor in the Biomedical Science Department, University of CEU Cardenal Herrera in Moncada (Valencia), Spain. He graduated as molecular biologist with honors from University of Perugia, Italy and a Ph.D. from the University of Valencia, Spain.
Part of training of his final degree on “Rare mutations in severe haemophilia A: research of the inversion of intron 1 and the gene sequencing in Umbria patients” was done at the Laboratory of molecular biology of the Institute of internal and vascular medicine of the University of Perugia (2003-2004), and at the Medical genetics laboratory of the Hospital "Ospedali Riuniti" in Foggia (2004). In 2011 he obtained PhD in experimental neurology, entitled "Evaluation of therapeutic potential of the GABAergic stem cell transplantation in mouse models of epilepsy" as a fellow of the Spanish national funds for scientific research (FPI). Part of his PhD was done at the Department of Physiology, Federal University of São Paulo (Brazil). Since 2012 he has been a full time professor of Physiology and Biology at the Biomedical Science Department of the University of CEU Cardenal Herrera. His scientific work has been focused on neuroprotection and neurorepair strategies in the central nervous system.
