Carla Columbano Oliveira is an Associate Professor in the Department of Biochemistry, Institute of Chemistry, University of São Paulo, SP, Brazil. She received her undergraduate with honors degree in Biological Sciences from State University of Londrina, a Master's degree in Genetics and Molecular Biology from Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, a PhD in Molecular Biology - Gesellschaft für Biotechnologische Forshung, Braunschweig, Germany, and a post-doc at the University of Rochester, NY, USA. During Dr. Oliveira’s training she developed a keen focus on research that encompasses aspects of posttranscriptional control of gene expression, focosing on RNA processing and degradation, using budding yeast as a model organism.
In 1998, she was recruited as faculty at the Biochemstry Department of University of São Paulo, whe she studies pre-rRNA processing and pre-mRNA splicing in Saccharomyces cerevisiae.
