In contrast, an arrangement where an entity makes inflated initial payments, followed by minimal subsequent payments, without actively utilizing the leased asset suggests an attempt to accelerate tax deductions improperly. The IRS guidelines are designed to prevent lease arrangements from being manipulated for tax avoidance while preserving their economic utility for businesses.
