Caitlyn Gaffney is a research assistant in the Symptom Research Department, at MD Anderson in Houston, Texas. She received her undergraduate degree in Chemistry and her Masters in Biology from Sam Houston State University. While obtaining her Masters, she worked on antibiotic discovery and completed a project examining the antimicrobial properties of ferric nanoparticles and their effects on human pathogens. While at MD Anderson, she has been involved in research revolving around the relationship between inflammation and pain induced by various forms of injury. Specifically, she has been working with novel musculoskeletal injury models and macrophage targeting nanoparticles that have revealed injury dependent inflammation.
