Shelby White is a graduate student at Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana. She works within the Biomedical Engineering department as a member of the Biomechanics of Growth and Remodeling Laboratory. Her graduate work investigates the mechanics of the murine vagina under various biochemomechanical stimuli.
In 2018, Shelby completed a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Arkansas. During her undergraduate career, she completed research in both tissue engineering and drug delivery systems. Ultimately, her thesis was completed on engineering extracellular matrix fibers for muscle regeneration.
Shelby White’s scientific interests include soft tissue mechanics, biomaterials, wound healing, and artificial organs.
Shelby has been awarded several research grants during her undergraduate and graduate career. Such grants include the Louisiana Board of Reagents Fellowship, the University of Arkansas Honors College Research Grant, and the Student Integrated Research Experience Grant. She is a member of Phi Sigma Rho, where she served as the Philanthropy Chairman for two academic years.
