Pengfei Lu, an associate professor at the School of Forestry, Beijing Forestry University (BFU), Beijing, China. In 2007, he graduated from Huazhong Agriculture University and got his Ph. D. degree in Entomology. His research focused on the basic sex pheromone biology study in insects, including sex pheromone identification, electrophysiological response and field- trapping experiment. After graduation, He worked at Wenzhou Medical Univesity (WMU) as a research associate. His research used the single sensillum recording (SSR) technique to study electrophysiological response of peripheral receptor neurons in mosquitoes to human odours and carbon dioxide. In 2009, He came to Institute of Zoology, the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) as a postdoc. His research focused on insect-plant interactions and chemical communication in insects. He worked at Beijing Forestry University (BJFU), as an associate professor from 2011 up to now. His team is focusing on research and application of sustainable forest pest control technologies. Now the main research object are woodboring beetles, including both insect-produced chemicals such as sex or aggregation pheromones, and chemical signals and cues from hosts or habitats. Meanwhile, He is very interested in the molecular mechanisms underlying these techniques. They hope to learn which components are involved in signalling pathways leading to insect olfaction fundamental to plant- and insect-insect interactions.
