Alexander Tavares is a research technician in Dr. Bruce Levy's laboratory in the Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. He received a Bachelor of Science degree from Stonehill College in Easton, MA, where he graduated with departmental honors in biology.
During his time in Dr. Levy's lab, Alexander helped elucidate the roles of specialized proresolving mediators (SPMs) in the resolution of acute inflammation and tissue injury. His work principally focused on identifying novel bioactions for the three maresin conjugates in tissue regeneration (MCTR) using murine models of acute lung injury and allergic airway inflammation.
Alexander will be pursuing his Ph.D. in biomedical sciences at Boston University beginning in Fall 2019.
