Department of Translational Research
Takatoshi Murata is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Translational Research, Tsurumi University School of Dental Medicine in Yokohama, Japan. He received a Ph.D from Kyushu Dental College, Japan after receipt of a dentist's license.
During Dr. Murata’s training he developed a keen focus on the elucidation of cell-bacteria interaction, and was awarded the Research Fellowships for Young Scientists (Japan Society for the Promotion of Science). As a post-doctoral fellow (1997 to 1999) in the Schwarzbauer Lab, Department of Molecular Biology, Princeton University, NJ, USA, he studied the function of the extracellular matrix on fibroblastic adhesion.
In 1999 he was recruited as faculty at Niigata University followed by Kyushu Dental College, Nippon Dental University and Tsurumi University. His research program encompasses translational research to contribute the disease prevention, covering human population as well as bacterial and human cells.
