Application of Light-cured Dental Adhesive Resin for Mounting Electrodes or Microdialysis Probes in Chronic Experiments
Tetsu Okumura 1, Kazuo Okanoya 2, Jun Tani 1
1Laboratory for Behavior and Dynamic Cognition, Brain Science Institute, RIKEN, 2Laboratory for Biolinguistics, Brain Science Institute, RIKEN

In this report, we propose a new application of light-curing dental resins for mounting base of electrodes or microdialysis probes in chronic experiments. This material allows direct bonding to the cranium.

In Vivo Gene Transfer to Schwann Cells in the Rodent Sciatic Nerve by Electroporation
Daisuke Ino 1,2, Masamitsu Iino 1
1Department of Pharmacology, Graduate School of Medicine, The University of Tokyo, 2Laboratory for Cell Polarity Regulation, Quantitative Biology Center, RIKEN

Here, we present an in vivo technique for gene transfer to Schwann cells (SCs) in the rodent sciatic nerve. This simple technique is useful for investigating signaling mechanisms involved in the development and maintenance of myelinating SCs.

1Zhejiang Chinese Medical University, 2Department of Psychiatry, Zhejiang Provincial People's Hospital, 3Department of Radiology, Zhejiang Provincial People's Hospital

Based on resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging with Granger causality analysis, we investigated the alterations in the directed functional connectivity between the posterior cingulate cortex and whole brain in patients with Alzheimer's Disease (AD), patients with Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI), and healthy controls.

An Automated T-maze Based Apparatus and Protocol for Analyzing Delay- and Effort-based Decision Making in Free Moving Rodents
Qi Zhang 1,2, Yuki Kobayashi 1, Hiromichi Goto 1, Shigeyoshi Itohara 1
1Laboratory of Behavioral Genetics, Center for Brain Science, RIKEN, 2Faculty of Human Science, University of Tsukuba

This article introduces an automated T-maze apparatus that we invented, and a protocol based on this apparatus for analyzing delay-based decision making and effort-based decision making in free moving rodents.

Simon Leclerc 1,2, Youri Arntz 2, Yuichi Taniguchi 1,3
1Laboratory for Cell Systems Control, RIKEN Center for Biosystems Dynamics Research, RIKEN, 2Laboratoire de Biomatériaux et Bioimagerie, INSERM, 3PRESTO, Japan Science and Technology Agency

Here, we present a protocol to assess the labeling homogeneity for each protein species in a complex protein sample at the single molecule level.

Assessment of Long-term Depression Induction in Adult Cerebellar Slices
Kazuhiko Yamaguchi 1, Masao Ito 2
1Laboratory for Behavioral Genetics, Center for Brain Science, RIKEN, 2Senior Adviser's Office, Center for Brain Science, RIKEN

In some gene-manipulated animals, using a single protocol may fail to induce LTD in cerebellar Purkinje cells, and there may be a discrepancy between LTD and motor learning. Multiple protocols are necessary to assess LTD-induction in gene-manipulated animals. Standard protocols are shown.
