My background is a Bachelor ́s degree in Biotechnology, at Pablo de Olavide University in Seville, and a Master ́s degree in Pharmacological Sciences, Research and development specialty, at Universidad Complutense de Madrid. My lab experience started with the Master ́s final work, at Instituto Pluridisciplinar in Madrid, focused in cardiovascular alterations and processing and analysing rat ́s heart tissue. After that period, I worked at Teagasc Food Research Centre in Dublin, the Agriculture and Food Development Authority in Ireland, for one year and a half. During this time, I worked at microbiology department in the field of pathogenic bacteria present in Anaerobic Digestion Plants, learning how to work in Category 3 labs.

Currently, I am carrying out the work of my doctoral thesis in the Oncology Department at Hospital Ramón y Cajal. The thesis is focused on the tumor microenvironment and how it is related to chemoresistance in colorectal cancer. We study how Cancer Associated Fibroblasts, CAFs, are involved in this chemoresistance by generating Extracellular Matrix and soluble factors or vesicles.
