Salvo Chiantia studied Physics in the University of Palermo where he
graduated in 2003. In 2008, he obtained his PhD in Physics under the
supervision of Prof. Schwille in the TU-Dresden, working on a
combination of Atomic Force Microscopy and single-molecule
fluorescence for the study of cellular membranes. In 2009, he received
a fellowship from the Life Science Foundation and the Howard Hughes
Medical Institute to carry on his postdoctoral
studies at Stony Brook University, NY. Since 2015, he is Junior
Professor in the University of Potsdam, Germany. His research focus is
the study of the assembly of the
Influenza virus in infected cells by means of advanced quantitative
optical microscopy.
