Cheng Teng NG is Research Fellow at the NUS Environmental Research Institute (NERI), National University of Singapore, Singapore. She studied Bachelor of Science in NUS, and graduated 2009 with Honours Degree in Life Sciences. She obtained her Ph.D. in 2015 from the NUS, with a thesis on Biological Effects of Gold Nanoparticles in vitro and in vivo. After that she started her a postdoctoral stay at NERI since 2015 till now. Since 2010, she has authored and coauthored more than 20 peer-reviewed publications.
Cheng Teng’s scientific interests range from emerging nanoparticles to macro-sized particles; and their effects on biological system. In the last years, her department has been engaged in national and international research initiatives to study the health impacts of emerging particles and other air pollutants, eventually helping to elucidate mechanism underlying the cellular toxicity.
Her work has been awarded with several prestigious prizes, among them the Chua Toh Hua Memorial Gold Medal in 2015. This is a university level award given to the Doctor of Philosophy graduate with the most outstanding research work done in Life Sciences. She is member of the Microscopy Society of Singapore (2019).
