Tommy Wood is a Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Washington School of Medicine. He received an undergraduate degree in Natural Sciences from the University of Cambridge, attended medical school at the University of Oxford, and has a PhD in Physiology from the University of Oslo.
The long-term goal of Dr. Wood's research is to investigate the factors that contribute to long-term brain health across the lifespan. His work focuses on the development of clinically-relevant animal models of premature, hypoxic-ischemic (HI) term, and adolescent traumatic brain injury, and using these models to investigate the metabolic and physiological responses to brain injury, as well as the application of promising neuroprotective strategies.
