Aleksey Kocherzhenko is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, California State University, East Bay in Hayward, California. He received his undergraduate and masters degrees in physics from Belarusian State University, his masters degree in biomaterials from the University of Ulm (Germany), and his Ph.D. in physical chemistry from Delft University of Technology (The Netherlands). As a postdoctoral fellow in Birgitta Whaley’s lab at the University of California, Berkeley (2011 to 2014) and in Christine Isborn's lab at the University of California, Merced (2015 to 2017), he developed computational models for optical absorption spectra, nonlinear optical properties, as well as energy and charge transfer in a variety of molecular materials. His current research focuses on organic molecules and supramolecular systems for applications in plastic electronics.
