Increasing evidence indicates that excessive infiltration of lipids inside skeletal muscle results in lipotoxicity and diabetes. Here, we present a complete protocol, including tissue processing, staining with Bodipy, image acquisition, and analysis, to quantify the size, density, and subcellular distribution of lipid droplets in a fiber-type specific manner.
The present protocol describes the purification steps and subsequent studies of four different fungal β-glucans as potential immunomodulatory molecules that enhance the anti-tumoral properties of microglia against glioblastoma cells.
Bacteriophages, ubiquitous and diverse on Earth, infect and replicate within bacterial hosts, playing a crucial role in microbial ecosystems. Despite their importance, their presence may disrupt industrial processes. We have developed a method using bacterial lipopolysaccharides to eliminate bacteriophages from Salmonella cultures.
Here, we provide a detailed protocol to perform live imaging of the asymmetric division of germline stem cells (GSCs) in the Drosophila ovarian niche. We use a transgenic line that ubiquitously expresses a green fluorescent protein (GFP) fusion of the spectrosome protein Par-1.
