Here, we describe virtual-hand and virtual-face illusion paradigms that can be used to study body-related self-perception/-representation. They have already been used in various studies to demonstrate that, under specific conditions, a virtual hand or face can be incorporated into one's body representation, suggesting that body representations are rather flexible.
Clinically, estrogen deficiency in menopausal women may aggravate the incidence of lipid disruption and atherosclerosis. We established an in vivo estrogen deficiency model by bilateral ovariectomy via a double dorsal-lateral incision in apoE-/- mice. The mouse model is applicable for screening exogenous estrogen treatments of cardiovascular dysfunction after menopause.
We successfully developed a reliable and reproducible model of heart failure post-myocardial infarction in the rat without ventilation or exteriorization of the heart. This simplifies the procedure and benefits the further studies about the potential mechanisms behind the heart failure.
This protocol presents a practical guide on the surgery for creation of aortic regurgitation (AR) in the mouse. Assessment of the AR mouse by echocardiography and invasive hemodynamic measurement recapitulates its clinically relevant characteristics of volume overload-induced eccentric hypertrophy, suggesting its promising application in the study of cardiac hypertrophy.
This study develops an efficient and reproducible Tuina protocol for treating frozen shoulder established in a rat model. This approach will help to study the Tuina therapy treatment method for frozen shoulders.
This paper describes in detail the operation procedures and precautions to be taken during Du-moxibustion in the treatment of ankylosing spondylitis in experimental mice.
The protocol describes a method for Tuina intervention in a rabbit model of knee osteoarthritis.
This article provides a step-by-step guide to correcting presbyopia with a monocular bi-aspheric ablation profile.
