Mi Kyung Shin is an Research Associate in the Medicine Department, Johns Hopkins university in Baltimore, Maryland. She received her undergraduate and a Ph.D. from Inha University of South Korea.
During Dr. Shin's training, she studied oxidative stress related signaling pathway in vivo and in vitro. As a post-doctoral fellow (2009 to 2016) in Johns Hopkins University, USA, she focused on effects of intermittent hypoxia (IH) on lipid and glucose metabolism and the pathogenesis of obstructive sleep apnea in mice model.
Dr. Shin was recruited as faculty at Johns Hopkins University in 2016, and received a Career Development Award from American Heart Association in 2019. Her research program focus on the mechanisms of leptin-induced hypertension in the carotid bodies.
